Conform

This is the process in which a timeline is transferred from one application into the next. For example, if an editor has used premiere pro, we would be provided conform files such as an XML, AAF or EDL to link the media and match the edit decisions.

Conforms can be simple or complicated depending on the media management of the project and complexity of the edit.

Even if an edit has been completed in resolve, there may be a ‘conform’ required in order to ensure our timeline is a perfect match.

An important part of a conform is the ‘confidence check’, this is where we line up a quicktime reference of the editors final timeline to ensure nothing has gone out of place etc.
