FAQ

We do things a little differently at Moodlab.

  • Moodlab is not a typical post house. You can think of our business in two parts.

    1. We design looks for film. This includes custom LUTs and guides for production, dailies colour as well as final colour and finishing.

    2. As a premium ‘dry-hire’ facility with additional offerings such as conform, resource packs and archive.

We can however partner with other post-houses to bring you a full service experience.

  • Bookings are available to everyone.

You must either have a Moodlab approved artist or (if you don’t need an artist for your screening/presentation), you can add one of our team as an operator.

To access the booking link, you will need to sign up to our members area.

  • Not only are we a premium facility, where you can be proud to bring your clients, but the rooms have been set up by colourists to meet the industries technical standards.

Some things to consider when choosing a space:

    • The lighting: Grading in the dark for TV or online content is a big no-no. Lighting must also be daylight balanced to maintain accurate colour perception. Our rooms can be totally blacked out and adjusted for different light levels.

    • Grey walls are also recommended as a back drop.

    • Ergonomics for your artists. We have standing desks. Our Herman Miller Cosm chairs are designed to instantly adapt to different users.

    • Your comfort. We also provide a couple of desks for clients to use if they want a break from a sofa.

    • Free all day car parking. This is available on the street behind the studio.

    • Monitoring that is frequently calibrated.

    • Custom configuration for each artist so little to no time is wasted at the beginning of your session setting things up.

  • We don’t charge for our members area, it’s available to friends of Moodlab. We do monitor who joins up and if we can’t verify the new member, they will be removed.

  • Multiple companies operate from 15 Aberdeen Rd. We have shared facilities for dining, kitchen and bathrooms. Hot desks may also be available. Reach out if you want to know more.

  • We certainly can. We use a browser based streaming application designed for editing and colour grading for our live stream sessions. We can also hook up to a remote colourist and play their feed into our monitoring.

  • While we encourage an ‘HDR first’ colour pipeline, we understand sometimes prefer the experience of refining their images on the big screen. We will happily work with our partners to accomodate a theatre grade.

  • Of course, we are happy to make the booking on your behalf and share the details with you. Just call or email us.
