Dynamic Range

Dynamic range in filmmaking refers to the ability of a camera or display system to capture or reproduce a wide range of brightness levels in an image. It represents the difference between the darkest and brightest areas that can be effectively recorded or displayed, allowing for the retention of detail and tonal information.

A higher dynamic range enables filmmakers to capture scenes with a broad contrast range, preserving details in both shadowed and well-lit areas and provides greater flexibility during post-production for color grading and creating the desired visual aesthetics of a film.
